Present in the heart of the city, the Ullal dargah is located about 10kms which can be easily accessible by buses, auto-rickshaws and taxi. Located in Ullal, South Canara to commemorate Saint Sayyid Mohammed Shareeful Madani, the dargah is been drawing pilgrims from all faiths.Legend has it that around 400 years back, Sayyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani from Saudi Arabia came to Mangalore by floating a piece of cloth when reaching the shores of Ullal. In Ullal village at Melangadi,  Sayyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani camped in a small mosque where showing adoration on the poor he led a simple life.
Sayyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani kindness and his treatment of the sick through prayers, he became famous among the villagers. Many people from all communities come to Ullal mosque to seek his blessings because numerous wonders have been credited this holy person.
There are many such stories or incidents took place by the Saint Madani miraculous powers. One such story is that, his landlord who took away the tender coconuts that belong to the saint on one fine day. But later what happened is that the landlord had a severe stomach ache. Because of his forgiving nature, a glass of water was offered to the landlord by the saint and in a few minutes the saint was relieved of the pain. The landlord presented the house to the saint as a token of gratitude and the descendent of saint live here even today.
One day the villagers saw the saint throwing water upwards above him. The villagers were wondered and questioned him, the saint told that at a distant mosque at Mecca there was a fire and also told that he was extinguishing it. That same year the pilgrims who returned from mecca confirmed that there had been a fire in the mosque but it got extinguished by a miraculous shower.
After his death a tomb was raised over the Saint’s grave and miracles continued. Many dumb people got their voices back and happiness was blessed for thousands of people.At present by a registered Trust the Dargah is been managed, which runs an Arabic College – a Technical Education Institute, a charitable hospital etc.Once in 5 years, The Sayyid Madani Dargah observes Uroos which attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the country and it has earned the name of Ajmer Dargah of the south.
